Through presidential executive order, a commission to combat drug addiction and the opioid crisis was created this week. The purpose of the commission is to, “study the scope and effectiveness of the federal response to drug addiction and the opioid crisis … and to make recommendations to the president for improving that response.” Interim recommendations need to be submitted by the end of June, with a final set of recommendations delivered to the president by the end of October.
